In Matthew 5.13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it's great to have you with me.

Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Shall we do a little soul work today? We've been reading this week Doctrine and Covenants section 124, as well as 3 Nephi chapters 20 through 23.

We're going to, last week we got so caught up in the Doctrine and Covenants readings it didn't leave us much. Let's take a look at 3 Nephi 20 where Jesus is instituting the sacrament amongst the Nephites. You know, he's teaching them what the bread means, what the wine means, right?

And so let's take a look at verse eight here in 3 Nephi chapter 20. It says, and he said unto them, he that eateth this bread eateth of my body to his soul. And he that drinketh of this wine drinketh of my blood to his soul.

And his soul shall never hunger nor thirst, but shall be filled. Now, I've read that, I don't know, a few hundred times maybe, right? Tons of times.

And this time, it kind of, maybe it hit my soul. Because there's the way I kind of looked at it. I work in my professional life.

I work with people that are in most cases very, very driven, right? They're coming to me and they're saying, Hey, I, I know what I want and I want to be able to get it faster and I want to be able to get more of it or whatever it is. And so they come to me to be able to work through that.

And then there's other times where people come to me and when I ask them what it is they want, they're not quite sure. And I come across a lot of people that are just kind of doing life, right? They don't, they don't know what they're really accomplishing.

They're just kind of doing what they're supposed to do, and they don't even really know what it's accomplishing there. Verse eight for me is really interesting because it brings a deeper lens into the question of what you want. When I think about hunger and thirst, a lot of times I think about this pursuit of goals and your vision, right?

I'm hungry for it, right? They say in sports, like, you got to be hungry, right? And you get these phrases that are this kind of like, you got to thirst for knowledge.

She got a hunger for growth, right? And we get this same idea. And so here's what I've got for this idea here.

Sorry, I know I'm kind of waffling around. I promise it's coming to a point. Here it comes.

Here's the point. The Lord says here that when we eat the bread, when we drink the wine, or the water in our case, modern day, that our soul shall never hunger nor thirst. When's the last time you asked your soul what it wanted?

When's the last time when you were thinking about whatever it is you wanted in life? And I don't care what it is. I want the new, oh, look at that new car.

I want that. Or look at that new pair of jeans. I want that.

Or, ooh, the new phone came out. I want that. When's the last time you asked your soul if that's what it wanted?

Now, remember, whenever I ask these questions to you, I'm holding the mirror up for me. This one really got me thinking. When I think about what my soul wants, my soul, deep down, right?

My soul wants peace and tranquility, and I can find that in Jesus Christ. My soul wants connection with other souls, specifically connection with my family, and I can find that through Jesus Christ. And as I've sat and taken some time to reflect into what my soul wants, I've found that the answer can be found through Jesus Christ.

So I want to encourage you today to take an opportunity and maybe even open a journal or just a sheet of paper, maybe a sticky note. Take some time to think into what your soul wants. What is it your soul is telling you it wants?

What is it hunger and thirst after? And then seek next time you partake of the sacrament and remember our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. See if he can't help fill that hunger or thirst that your soul is asking for.
