In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, it is great to have you with me.

Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Truth? What is it?

Where do we find it? How many are there? There's a section inside of Doctrine and Covenants section 93 that is quite heavy and doctrinal and deep and I don't know that I can even speak into it even in this moment that we have together in Savory Salt.

But I wanted to take a look at it as part of our study this week along with Alma chapters 57 through 61. And it actually kind of went in with the chapters inside of Alma because I think about Helaman and I think about Moroni and them in the middle of their wars. And whether they had these moments of wondering what was true and what wasn't true versus simply relying on the Lord to help them out.

That's neither here nor there, I guess, inside of our verse for today, but just some of the things that I'm musing on. Because in this section in Doctrine and Covenants section 93, the Lord reveals some things that are worth pondering. And I would absolutely suggest to you to take some time to ponder and pray inside of your own families.

Maybe even discuss together some of the section here. We talked yesterday about how even Jesus Christ went through the process of grace for grace, right. He went through the process of receiving the fullness that the Father had for him and how we can do so as well.

And then we get to a section here that I think the Lord is trying to show us and say, "Hey, by the way, here's an example of what I mean grace for grace." Our verse for today is Doctrine and Covenants section 93 verse 24. It is part of a sentence. Make sure you read the whole sentence.

But our verse says: "And truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come." Now, in today's world we are bombarded with truths from many different sources. We have news truths. We have truths about countries.

We have truths about my truth and your truth. My view of the world is being my truth, and I'm going to speak into my truth, and your truth is different than my truth, and we should all share each other's truths together, and all these things. And the Lord makes it pretty clear that there is truth.

It took me down a line of studying in some conference talks and I came across one by President Oaks from 2018 and it's titled "Truth and the Plan". And I'll make sure the link's in here for you to study yourself. He says at the beginning of his talk this.

And I'm going to read a good chunk of it because I think it feeds into our process of trying to become more a little bit at a time. He says, "We live in a time of greatly expanded and disseminated information, but not all of this information is true. We need to be cautious as we seek truth and choose sources for that search.

We should not consider secular prominence or authority as qualified sources of truth. We should be cautious about relying on information or advice offered by entertainment stars, prominent athletes, or anonymous internet sources. Expertise in one field should not be taken as expertise on truth in other subjects.

We should also be cautious about the motivation of the one who provides information. That is why the scriptures warn us against priestcraft. If the source is anonymous or unknown, the information may also be suspect.

Our personal decisions should be based on information from sources that are qualified on the subject and free from selfish motivations." Then he continues this one more. I know I'm reading a lot from this one, but it's going to connect here. "When we seek the truth about religion, we should use spiritual methods appropriate for that search. Prayer, the witness of the Holy Ghost, and study of the scriptures and the words of the modern prophets." I'm always sad when I hear of one who reports a loss of religious faith because of secular teachings.

Those who once had spiritual vision can suffer from self-spiritual blindness. As President Henry B. Eyring said: "Their problem does not lie in what they think they see; it lies in what they cannot yet see." My friends, I know that our source of truth is a loving Heavenly Father, an all-knowing God.

And as we learn inside of Doctrine and Covenants 93 here, as it continues on after 24, truth and light are intertwined. The seeking of one leads us to the others. And our desire to have that truth and light in our lives comes as we follow the commandments of the Lord and receive grace for grace, ultimately coming to a fullness of that truth and light and ultimately coming to know all things as God does.

May you and I spend our time in the Scriptures, in the words of the modern prophets, in our own prayer and in seeking promptings from the Holy Spirit to find and hold on to all the truth and light we can is my hope for us this day. You got this! That's all for today, my friends!

Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave to the covenants you have made and together we will be saved.
