In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends, it's great to have you with me.

Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. We're going to be wrapping up this week our readings in Doctrine and Covenants 89 through 92, as well as our readings in Alma chapters 53 through 56. I love Alma chapter 56.

It's one of my faves when it comes to Helaman telling the story of the stripling warriors. And yet, oddly enough, our verse for today is going to come from a different part of that story. I love the stripling warriors being the heroes that they were.

These young men that were willing to stand and ultimately fight, having never done so and with quite honestly an expectation that they probably weren't going to make it. They were kind of the last line of defense. But we see what they were to others inside of our verse for today.

We're going to be reading Alma chapter 56, verse 16 today. And this is talking about Antipas and his men. They had been losing city after city after city and this is before the warriors show up.

So Helaman and the 2,000 have not come yet and we see their conditions waiting for anyone to help them out. It's Alma chapter 56, verse 16. It says, Then in the story we have Helaman and his 2,000 young men show up.

Can you imagine the feeling that these men had as they saw these young men show up to help them out? They were ultimately on their last leg. They had decided that they would hunker down and pretty much conquer or die in their last city, and then help showed up.

There's times in my life where I have experienced being down and in darkness, experiencing difficulties, certainly not to the level of war that they have felt here. So I don't want to try and over-amplify the struggles I've faced, but I have faced difficult trials and times in my life. I feel like there's just no light coming back around.

And then at that point, as I turn my heart to the Lord and Savior, someone reaches out or something happens in my life that reminds me that the Lord is mindful of me and watchful of all of my doings. I think Alma 56:16 is a great opportunity to see things through the lens of Antipas and his men. They were down, they were out, they were depressed, they were struggling, and they had suffered great afflictions.

Many of you maybe have experienced some of those feelings or maybe you're experiencing them now. My wish for you is to simply hold on and turn to the Lord. He is there and He is aware and He will absolutely send His stripling warriors to uplift you and strengthen you during your darkest times.

That I can testify. That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice.
