In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry His flavor, His truth, and His love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.

Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. If you just had eight verses out of all of the verses in the Book of Mormon, what would you say?

That takes us into our Book of Mormon reading as we continue our Easter study this week. We're going to be looking inside the Book of Omni today. And Omni is an interesting book.

It carries several authors as they go through, and we have this like light-speed transportation of time through the Book of Mormon history here as several people just take a verse or two and say, 'Hey, I was told I was supposed to write in here, and here I go writing something.' And then we get to the end of Omni, which takes us to our verse for today. In the end of Omni, we have a man named Amaleki. Verse 23 is where he was introduced here.

And in verse 23, Amaleki takes the plates and he does say, 'You know, I'm getting a little bit old,' and he introduces us actually to this man named King Benjamin, which is kind of cool because he lived in the days of Mosiah. And so we get this introduction of sorts over to the Book of Mosiah. But it's verse 26 that really stood out to me of Amaleki.

Because here's this guy that we don't really know much about. We know very little about. I mean, considering, you know, Nephi takes several books and Alma takes like years for us to read, right?

Like there's a lot of records inside of there. Yet we have this from this man named Amaleki. And this is what he says in Omni chapter 1, verse 26.

He says, 'And now my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of His salvation and the power of His redemption. Yea, come unto Him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto Him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end. And as the Lord liveth, ye will be saved.' Wow, what a powerful testimony of this man that we know so little about.

He decides that in his eight verses he's going to dedicate one of them to inviting all that read this to come unto Jesus Christ. And it made me think about my own experiences with people in life, right? Like if I have these small moments in life with people, maybe I meet someone in a business meeting a little bit, or maybe I meet someone in a social setting at a party or something, what's my invitation to them?

And I don't mean, you know, direct invitation the way that Amaleki says here. I just mean, what's my interaction like with them? Do I give off the vibes that I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ?

Does my behavior invite people to come unto His light and make covenants with Him? It's a great, insightful verse for me. This is like a, I've used these before, but this is like an Allen looking in the mirror verse for me here in verse 26.

And then I love the end piece of it where he says, 'And as the Lord liveth, ye will be saved.' That's an interesting phrase. As the Lord liveth is interesting. It's really been something this Easter week that I've spoken into with some of my calls and some of my friends and some of my groups that I'm in and a part of.

Do I truly believe that Jesus Christ lives as the Lord liveth? That He's a resurrected, perfected being? That is such a core piece of my belief system.

And I love that this promise is attached. You're going to be saved as the Lord liveth. That is such a great promise.

And I'm grateful for it. I'm grateful for Amaleki. I'm grateful he took eight verses in the Book of Mormon and shared them with us.

I've shared this invitation because it reminds me that I can be an invitation to others in my life to come unto Jesus Christ and to embrace Him as the Holy One of Israel, to partake of His salvation and the power of His redemption. What a great reminder for all of us that take on the name of Christ to be missionaries for Him at all times and in all places. That's all for today, my friends.

Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Believe in the covenants you have made, and together we will be savory salt.
