In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.

Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. That, by the way, is coming up this week.

If you haven't connected those dots, welcome to our continuation inside of Doctrine and Covenants, sections 23 to 26, as well as 2 Nephi chapters 24 to 27 this week. We're going to actually shift gears here just a little bit and switch over today to 2 Nephi chapter 24. There's a message inside of there that I think feeds inside of these Doctrine and Covenants sections and so I thought I would sneak this one kind of in between them.

We're to stage in the growth of the church in Doctrine and Covenants where there's great persecution starting to come, especially as the church continues to grow in its early days, it really ruffles some feathers and the early leaders and the early members of the church experience some great physical, mental, and emotional abuse inside of the growth of the church. I think Isaiah had a beautiful message inside of 2 Nephi chapter 24 for all of us. He's talking about this millennial day, right?

This day that Christ comes. I think it's something that we can see for our future, but also something we can see for our here and now in the present. And that's why I wanted to dive into it today.

Let's take a look at it. It's in 2 Nephi 24:3. It says: "And it shall come to pass in that day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow and from thy fear and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve." Now, that sounds kind of weird to kind of share, right?

We're going to get this rest. And yet when you dive into the footnote of rest, you'll see there that the rest that it footnotes to, right? Kind of the definition of it inside of another Doctrine and Covenants scripture is a fullness of his glory.

This has had me thinking quite a bit because I've talked with my daughter that's serving her mission. And for those of you that have served or have loved ones that have served missions, you know that there are—it's like the craziest rollercoaster of life. There are amazing, awesome days and there are.

And you know, in several stories that she shared, I just try and focus on one of them, but in several stories she shared, she talked about how when pushing through those difficult times, she has an increase of the Lord gives her an increase of the Spirit. One of those was a Sister that had just barely got into the mission, and she was kind of breaking down, and my daughter was talking to her, trying to help her out, and finally just said, "Look, Sister, you're going to make it, and what I want you to do right now is just make it through the next 15 minutes, and then after that, you're going to make it through the next 15 minutes." That Sister now has been able. She, as I talked to my daughter, let me know that.

Now, will we maybe have the fullness of the glory of God today in our lives? Maybe, maybe not to that fully understand and fully level there. But we absolutely, as we push through, and maybe if it needs to just be the next 15 minutes, I testify of that.

My daughter has found it time after time again. It's made me go back into times in my life, as we talk about difficult times she's facing, and I've tried to help her out and tried to share those, and then I end up sharing them with my whole family during scripture time or family meetings or whatever, because those times are times where I know the Lord has stepped in my life and given me rest, and I know he can do the same for you. My friends, today in Savory Salt, find rest in the Lord Jesus Christ.

He offers it to all who come unto Him. That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made, and together we will be savory salt.
