In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry His flavor, His truth, and His love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello my friends, great to have you with me.
Today let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Welcome back. We're going to continue our look inside of Doctrine and Covenants Section 19 this week as well as 2 Nephi chapters 15 through 18, those Isaiah chapters in there.
Our verse today continues on this theme and this idea that Jesus Christ is giving this revelation and it is His word. Everything we read inside of here is from the perspective of Him speaking to us. And I love that.
Let's dive into our verse for today in Doctrine and Covenants Section 19, verse 23. It says, "Learn of me and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me." My friends, today is a pretty short message. This is a list given to us by our Savior on how to have peace in Him.
Learn of Him, listen to His words, walk in the meekness of His Spirit. What does it look like for you to learn of Christ? How is that manifesting in your life currently?
How about listening to His words? I know if you're reading Doctrine and Covenants and you're reading your daily scriptures, you're getting those aspects. And then what does it look like in your life to walk in the meekness of His Spirit?
This got me thinking a lot about this verse, and just a fun little note about this verse for just a second. I got looking into this one as I continued to actually carry off of last week and dive into old conference talks and look at past General Conference talks. This scripture, Doctrine and Covenants Section 19, verse 23, has been quoted every year in General Conference from 2024 all the way back to 2018.
If we're looking for repetition and the Lord trying to get us to hear and see some messages, perhaps this is one worth looking into. And then I think we even get a little bit deeper idea here. It appears that this may be one that Elder Bednar has spent some time thinking into and pondering himself.
Because Elder Bednar has referenced this six times over his conference talks. That is an astounding amount of times when you consider all the verses that the Brethren could choose. Elder Bednar continuously seems to be picking this verse, and if you go into his talks in Conference, they all are focusing on different aspects of this.
Today the message is short and sweet: Learn of Jesus Christ, listen to His words, walk in the meekness of His Spirit, and there you will have peace in Christ. I am grateful for the messages that Jesus Christ gives to us today through living prophets and apostles. I am grateful that His voice is not dead or something of the past.
It is here for us today in these days. I know that, and I'm continuing to know that more and more as I do the things mentioned in this verse. I hope you experience that as well.
That's all for today my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave into the covenants you have made, and together we will be savory salt.
