In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends, great to have you with me.
Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. This episode, a very special message and perhaps a personal one as well. Welcome back to 2 Nephi chapters 3 and 4.
This week we've been bouncing back and forth between Doctrine and Covenants sections 10 and 11 and 2 Nephi chapters 1 through 4. I cannot share enough how much I love these chapters in 2 Nephi. And 2 Nephi 4 may very well be one of my favorite chapters in all of Scripture.
I love the reflective thought process of Nephi. I love the repentance he goes through. I love the glory that he I going to be 2 Nephi 4:30.
I know that we blew through 3 and 4 very quickly, but our last couple of episodes this week will actually be focused back again on Doctrine and Covenants, sections 10 and 11. 2 Nephi 4:30 is the tail end of Nephi going through this personal struggle, this personal realization of the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ in his own life. He weeps at his own sinfulness and then rejoices in the power of the Lord unto his salvation. Verse 30 speaks to that rejoicing part a little bit.
It says this: "Rejoice, O my heart, and cry unto the Lord, and say: O Lord, I will praise thee forever. Yea, my soul will rejoice in thee, my God, and the rock of my salvation." Can you feel Nephi's joy when he says, "Rejoice, O my heart, and cry unto the Lord?" I have come inside of Savory Salt now for 445 consecutive days with no desire other than to be a voice and a testimony of Jesus Christ, our Savior, and to do so through reading the scriptures. I hope that what I have done inside of that is brought a bit of the Spirit into your life and ultimately drawn your relationship with Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven closer.
Today, I know that these episodes are recorded to be listened to into perpetuity, but I also know that some of you listen live, day by day. And today, if I could, for the first time in Savory Salt, a personal request. I have talked about the adventures, some of the adventures my daughter is experiencing on her mission right now.
And she faces right now a challenge. We don't know quite yet whether this challenge will get to the level of endangering her service and her time of coming home or not. But she is dealing with a challenge right now that she has no control over.
I would ask if you and your family would take some time to do as Nephi does here and cry unto the Lord. I would ask that you would do so and unite with us in faith and prayer that my daughter will be able to continue serving her mission. That she'll be able to continue to bless the lives and bear testimony of Jesus Christ in Argentina.
I'd ask you to join us. Invite your family to join us. Spread the word.
Unite with us in faith and hope that the Lord might see fit for her to continue serving in her mission at this time. I rejoice in the Lord. I am grateful for the role that the Lord might see fit for her to continue serving in her mission at this time.
I rejoice in the Lord. I am grateful for the role that He plays in my life. I believe wholeheartedly in His ability to manifest miracles today.
And would ask that you might join me and my family in seeking for that miracle at this time. That my daughter may experience healing and the ability to go forth and serve and testify of Jesus Christ and this incredible gospel. That's my hope for you today.
My friends, Jesus Christ is real. He is our Lord and Savior. May we rejoice in the role that He plays in our lives and may we go forward and testify of that love of our Savior to all we come in contact with.
That's all for today, my friends. Lift up your hearts and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made and together we will be savory salt.
