In Matthew 5:13, Jesus calls us the salt of the earth, a bold reminder that our lives are meant to carry his flavor, his truth, and his love to the world. Join me each day to explore one verse of scripture and one thought, striving to stay full of savor and truly live as savory salt. Hello, my friends.

Great to have you with me. Today, let's be anxiously engaged in a good cause and bring to pass much righteousness. Today, we're going to be shifting gears a little bit.

As I mentioned at the beginning of season two, we're going to be going back and forth between Doctrine and Covenants and studying the messages with Come Follow Me in 2025, as well as reading the Book of Mormon again through the year. And the front end of that reading goes hand in hand with what we've been covering the last couple of days with the restoration of the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today we're going to be looking at the testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith found in the front end of the Book of Mormon.

Inside of this, you're going to have a segment that I want to use for our verse for today. It's going to be right in the middle of his testimony, so I apologize that there's not a verse number associated with it, but it's going to start with the paragraph that says, 'I lay musing.' And before we get there, what had happened is Joseph, according to his own testimony, had been praying for direction. He was visited by an angel.

He describes that. And then the angel has left. And this is the first time we know inside the testimony, he's going to be visited three times throughout the night and then another time in the morning.

But this is just after the first time that he's been visited and received a message from this messenger. And then he says this: 'I lay musing on the singularity of the scene and marveling greatly at what had been told to me. The same Heavenly messenger was again by my bedside.' Now the segment I want to point out here and the thought for today comes with the front end of what had just happened to Joseph as he had had this incredible spiritual experience.

What was he doing after it? He didn't roll over and go to bed, right? He says, 'I lay musing, marveling.' And I love the three of those together.

In fact, I had to dive into musing. The word musing is so interesting to me. And it says here, according to the dictionary from 1828, right?

Generally around the time that Joseph would have been using the word, it says, 'Deeply or seriously thoughtful, characterized by careful thought,' right? Another one, 'meditating in silence.' And so my friends, when we have spiritual opportunities this year, and I would even encourage you on a daily basis as you dive in to the Doctrine and Covenants and the Book of Mormon, I would encourage you to muse, to marvel, and to meditate upon the spiritual promptings that you receive throughout the year. That is absolutely an opportunity for us to increase our savor.

As we spend time and seriously think into the spiritual experiences we can have, we open the door for more spiritual experiences in our lives. May we take from the example of Joseph Smith here and muse, marvel, and meditate upon the things the Lord would teach us as we dive into this year with Savory Salt. That's all for today, my friends.

Lift up your heart and rejoice. Cleave unto the covenants you have made, and together we will be Savory Salt. We'll see you next time.
