In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me, and know that I'm cheering for your every success. He has come. Welcome.
Today, 295 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, you're going to be reading 3 Nephi chapter 11, verses 1 through 20. And here we will see the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to the people of the Book of Mormon.
I hope that this chapter stirs something inside of you just a little bit differently. I hope that the words you read hit just a little differently as you see and bear record the way that the Nephites bore record of the coming of Jesus Christ to this people. There are many verses in this chapter that are worth going over and I hope that you can take some time to dive into them yourself.
In fact, between now and chapter 26 in 3 Nephi, we're going to be spending a lot of time in the direct quotes and words of our Savior Jesus Christ. I hope that this next several days and weeks as we go forward is one of special attachment for you. And I hope that the Spirit can speak directly to you about the truthfulness.
Today, in searching through a verse of scripture and really trying to think into what would be the one that I want to share for Savory Salt, I landed on 3 Nephi 11:15. It says, "And it came to pass that the multitude went forth and thrust their hands into his side, and did feel the prints of the nails in his hands and in his feet." It speaks directly to me about the nature of this gospel. Everything we do is really actually one by one.
When you think about the full conversion to the gospel of Jesus Christ and getting to know Him, our baptism and other covenants that we make with the Lord is done one by one. Each of those covenants that we fulfill and each of those covenants that we make with the Lord is done one by one. And I love that the Lord meets us whenever that happens.
Some of us have been part of the Church for our entire lives, and others of us listening perhaps are just getting introduced to the Church for a first time, and they're trying to discover what that may be, no matter what their age is. And yet here the Lord is available for each and every one to come forth to feel the prints of the nails in His hands and His feet and to go forward one by one. The gospel of Jesus Christ is for all the world, and yet our relationship with Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father happens one by one.
So, my friends, as we go forward and continue to increase our own savor inside of this world, I hope that you can remember that the Savior, if He were here on the earth, would go forward to the many and also take time one by one. I hope you enjoy this chapter and the chapters following this as we go forward and dive into what Jesus Christ brought to the people of the Book of Mormon. What a wonderful record to dive into.
That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be Savory Salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
