In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success in the strength of the Lord. They did receive them. Welcome to day 285 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together.

Today, you're going to be reading 3 Nephi chapter 4, verses 1 through 11. Very short in terms of verse count. And yet, insanely powerful.

And we got a little bit of a reflective activity for you today on this Savory Salt episode. I would call your attention to verses 4 and 5 inside this reading. We're not going to dive into those.

But it's very interesting that the Gadianton robbers cannot exist unless they take from other people. Something worth reflecting on there. Take a little time to dig into that.

We're going to fast forward to the tail end of our reading today for our verse. We're going to see that in verses 8 and 9, the people see that the robbers are coming. We're going to continue our conversation from yesterday.

If you didn't listen to yesterday, go listen to that one. And then we're going to get 3 Nephi 4, verse 10. The robbers are rejoicing at them falling to their knees.

They think that it's because they're terrified of their armies. And in verse 10 it says this: But in this thing they were disappointed, for the Nephites did not fear them but they did fear their God and did supplicate him for protection. Therefore, when the armies of Giddianhi did rush upon them, they were prepared to meet them.

Yea, in the strength of the Lord they did receive them. Now, verse 11 then tells us that a battle worse than any battle that had existed in the people of Lehi happened. So there is absolutely a carnage result here.

But my friends, they went forward in the strength of the Lord. And I think there's some reflective time for each one of us today to sit down and ask ourselves, what do you need to do today to go forward in the strength of the Lord? What does that look like in your life, in your family's lives?

What does it look like with your friends? What does it look like with you personally? I love for you to sit in reflection and see what it means for you to be able to go forward and say that you go in the strength of the Lord so that you can stand firm in fear of the Lord rather than in fear of the world.

This is such a strong piece right here to see that the Lord preserves his people at this time when really they were facing an ultimate destruction from the face of the earth. Such a powerful verse here. Spend some time in it.

If you want, send me your reflections there. I'd love to hear back from those. What does it mean to go forward in the strength of the Lord for you today?

That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
