  • Listeners are encouraged to make covenants and follow commandments to become more like Jesus, recognizing Him as the ultimate source of salvation.

He truly is not just mighty to save, but the only way that salvation comes.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me, and know that I'm cheering for your every success. My friends, who is Jesus Christ?

Welcome to day 275 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, we're going to be reading Helaman chapter 13, verses 6 through 23. And inside of this, we get right into Samuel.

Samuel preaching to the Nephites. And our verse for today, we're going to get straight into it because it is right on the front end of our reading today. It is verse 6, and Samuel just doesn't mince words, actually.

He just gets straight into it. He says, verse 6: "Yea, heavy destruction awaiteth this people, and it surely cometh unto this people, and nothing can save this people save it be repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ, who surely shall come into the world and shall suffer many things and shall be slain for his people." This is a power verse for me. This is a reminder that there is no one, no way, no how, nothing that can save us except it be our Savior Jesus Christ.

I've talked about how I work in the personal development world and I work inside of developing businesses and leadership teams and all these types of things. I see and hear a lot of different opinions of who Jesus Christ is. I want to take the time today to add my testimony to verse 6 here.

As I hear about different versions of who Jesus Christ is, he's not just, he was not just a good man. He was not just some wise philosopher. He was not a great prophet.

He was not just a sound teacher. He was and is the Son of God and the Savior of the world. And it is only through Him that we can be saved.

I absolutely believe that. I hear inside of people that take scripture verses, they take verses from the Bible, and they talk about what a great concept it is, and they talk about how it can be applied in today's world. And yet they leave out the divinity of our Savior Jesus Christ.

And that to me is a tragedy. Here, Samuel is reminding us that there are times where destruction is imminent, and there is only one possible path forward. And that is repentance and faith on the Lord Jesus Christ.

My friends, I hope that even though we were just talking about this a day or two ago, as we talked about playing the same note of repentance over and over and over again, I hope that you and I can sit here in humility and realize that the Lord's desire for us is to repent and not just accept the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives, but do everything we can to make covenants with our Heavenly Father and to follow the commandments to become more like Jesus Christ. He truly is not just mighty to save, but the only way that salvation comes. That's the message I leave with you today.

I am so excited for Samuel and all that he has to teach us and testify of Jesus Christ, who truly is the Savior of the world. He was not just a man. He was not just a prophet or philosopher.

He is our Savior, and I am so grateful to him for that. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
