In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Jesus Christ is the life, the light, and the word.

Welcome to day 213 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. You're going to be reading today Alma chapter 38. It is a fairly short chapter and it is Alma chapter 38.

We are talking to one of his other sons, Shiblon. And we find out in here that Shiblon has gone through some things that aren't in the scriptures that are some pretty wild experiences. It looks like he has been a missionary and had some very difficult times.

He has been tied up and stoned and experienced those things. And Alma rejoices in his ability to have the faith to get through those experiences. And then we get to our verse for today.

We also get, I guess, before we even get to our verse today. It's interesting to me that he even retells the micro version of his conversion story again to his son. It shows me the anchor that that is in Alma's life.

The testimony builder that that was for Alma as it completely changed the direction of his life. Alma 38:9: Behold, he is the life and the light of the world. Behold, he is the word of truth and righteousness.

I don't know how anyone from outside of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the world today can still look at members of this church and say that we are not Christian or say that Jesus Christ is not the center of our belief system or the center of our world. And what we do at this stage, it's so fascinating to me, those that will simply perpetuate the belief that we don't hold Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world. Because when you read verses like this, and the Book of Mormon is full of verses like this, you see the center of my belief system as a member of this church and many of you that are listening.

There is no other way or means whereby man can be saved, only in and through Christ. He is the life. He is the light of the world.

He is the Word of Truth and Righteousness, that same Word that Alma just taught that you should plant and nourish and nurture and see the fruit of it. That is Jesus Christ. He is the center of our belief systems.

I hope that as a follower of Christ, I can shine a little more of His light as I go forward. I hope I can walk the path of the Word of Truth and Righteousness a little bit better. That's all for today, my friends.

Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
