In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be Savory Salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me, and know that I'm cheering for your every success. What's the seed?

What's the word that is the seed? These are the type of questions that come from the people listening to Alma talking about the seed. Welcome to day 204 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together, and Alma is going to answer that in Alma chapter.

That is a very intriguing rabbit hole that you could go down. I love the examples that they give from both of them, as they both talk specifically about Jesus Christ. But today's verse is going to be Alma answering the question of what's the seed?

How do we plant it? What's the word? How do we test it?

It gets us to Alma chapter 33, verse 22. Let's take a look at it. If so, woe shall come upon you.

But if not so, then cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that he will come to redeem his people, and that he shall suffer and die to atone for their sins, and that he shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before him to be judged at the last and judgment day, according to their works. My friends, the word to be tested, the seed to be planted, is the Atonement of Jesus Christ in your life. Begin to believe in the Son of God.

I love this one. There's been a scripture earlier in Savory Salt that has challenged us to believe in God, and this one from Alma's perspective is challenging us to believe in the Son of God, even Jesus Christ. We are here to pray for the Lord Jesus Christ.

I believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior. He is real. I believe that.

I believe that you believe that too, even as you're following along in Savory Salt and reading from the Book of Mormon. If you don't feel that belief—that, okay, this is the seed to plant, this is the word to test that Alma's talking about—you can do that in your life. Continue in these verses as Alma continues to explain and teach to the Zoramites.

The Zoramites believed this at one point and then fell away. Whatever you're on in your path, whether it's current belief or maybe wavering belief from the past, I would encourage you to plant the seed. And then the following verse that comes is another part of the promise.

I'll let you dig into that, but it's going to become an amazing tree, springing up into you everlasting life. What a beautiful promise given to us by Alma. I am grateful for that of prophets, ancient and modern, that testify of Jesus Christ and the role the Atonement of Christ plays in my life.

That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be Savory Salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
