In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. And that success is coming very quickly to Day 200.
Welcome to Day 197 on our 365 day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today, you're going to be reading Alma chapter 30 verses 13 to 32. You're going to be reading the Book of Mormon together.
We're going to be right in the middle of this Antichrist named Korihor and his teachings against Jesus Christ. They would come as being quite familiar if you've run into anyone that speaks against the gospel of Jesus Christ today. Many of those arguments have been the same arguments that Satan has used for generations and literally for millennia as he continues to fight against the people of Christ.
Today we're going to be looking at Alma chapter 30 verse 20 today. And inside of it, what's happening is Korihor is going around. He's starting to get some success preaching these antichrist teachings.
And then he comes to the people of Ammon. And this is what happens in verse 20. But behold, they were more wise than many of the Nephites, for they took him, and bound him, and carried him before Ammon, who was a high priest over that people.
Now this is only the beginning of what happens to Korihor, but I wanted to capture this one because of a couple of things that we see inside of this verse. First, they were more wise than many of the Nephites. They heard these teachings contrary to the things that they believed in their own testimony.
And what made them more wise? They took him, bound him, and moved him out. They got rid of it out of their lives.
Now we get this scenario with Ammon finding out who this guy is, and he gets escorted out of that land, and then he goes to another land, and he gets escorted out of that land. And there are several instances in this chapter where Korihor is removed from preaching in that area. And it's because the people simply don't want it in their lives.
I love that example. My friends, if there is music you listen to contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ, move it out of your life. If there are movies or media or social media that you have, that you consume that is contrary to the teachings of Jesus Christ, move it out of your life.
The example that we get here is that the people of Ammon heard his teachings. They recognized. Remember, these people used to be the enemies of the Nephites, right?
They know those arguments. They heard them and they said, 'We don't want any part of them here in our lives.' It is a beautiful testament to me to make a stand in my beliefs in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and at least inside of the places that I have control over my environment, my home, my car. What a powerful reminder to make a stand when it comes to our testimony.
There's no reason to have outside influences weaken or crumble the foundations that we have in our testimony of Jesus Christ. The people of Ammon did it. Others did it inside this chapter.
And ultimately you and I have the ability to do it in our lives today. I hope you find the power and the strength to do that. And I hope that the Spirit comes into your life in a renewed sense as you choose to remove those influences from your life.
That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
