In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. My friends, we've got a little activity to do today. Welcome to day 180.
It's like day 180. That's awesome. On our 365 day journey through the Book of Mormon together.
Today, you're going to be reading Alma chapter 19, verses 1 through 17. We're continuing our adventure. Seen this with his friend Alma the Younger, and so an interesting thing happened in there with his experience internally as he appears to be dead.
And we're going to get to the verse today. We got a lot of people passing out today with joy and gratitude, just so you know. So people are just going to be passing out with joy and gratitude, losing, losing their strength, passing out, whatever it is happening to them.
Let's take a look at our verse for the day. It's Alma 19:14. It says, Now Ammon, seeing the Spirit of the Lord poured out according to his prayers upon the Lamanites, his brethren, who had been the cause of so much mourning among the Nephites, for among all the people of God, because of their iniquities and their traditions, he fell upon his knees and began to pour out his soul in prayer and thanksgiving to God for what he had done for his brethren.
And he was also overpowered with joy, and thus they all three had sunk to the earth. Wow, what an amazing experience for Ammon to witness. These Lamanites have been a true challenge to the Nephites for generations, hundreds of years.
Now Ammon has been able through the Spirit and through his service to serve them in a way that has brought them to the light of the atonement of Jesus Christ, and his reaction is to fall on his knees and pour out his soul in prayer and thanksgiving to God, and that ultimately leads to his joy overpowering him, and he and Lamoni and Lamoni's wife all end up sunk to the earth. My friends, the activity for today is to consider the things that you're grateful for and include it in a prayer of thanksgiving to God. Now, I haven't gotten to a point of gratitude that my joy has become so full that I've ever passed out from it.
But I certainly have had happiness and joy at a level that has left me feeling perhaps faint a little bit, right? I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
