In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family. Wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. And I have a huge smile on my face today because the message Alma gives is joyful news.

Welcome to day 171 on our 365 day journey through the Book of Mormon together. You're going to read today Alma chapter 13 verses Alma chapter 14:1–6, which actually shows you the consequences of Alma and Amulek preaching to these people, and those consequences being imprisonment as these people are going to ultimately reject the message that Alma and Amulek have to give. It seems that many times people don't like the call to repentance.

But that's okay. Our message today comes from Alma 13 in these closing verses as Alma casts the vision of angels visiting the earth and of sharing the message of the coming of Jesus Christ. It is some powerful compilation here of verses, and today's verse is going to be Alma chapter 13:25.

And I have a little bit of feeling like Alma feels as we read Alma 13:25. This is what it says: "And now we only wait to hear the joyful news declared unto us by the mouth of angels of his coming." But I just want to share with you my excitement and my belief in a literal second coming of Jesus Christ. As Alma is talking here, he's only, I don't know, I think he's maybe 80 years or so away from the birth of Christ over in Jerusalem.

And then of course, Christ needs to live His life before He's going to come over to the Americas and visit the Nephites. So really, you know, add 30-ish years, He's a hundred years or so away from the time that Christ is actually going to come and visit the people on the American continent. And yet Alma's saying here, "I hope I get to see it.

I hope it's in my day," but either way, I'm going to rejoice when it happens. And my friends, I believe in a literal second coming of Jesus Christ. And I am so excited for that day.

A day that will be a day of light, a day of rejoicing for those that seek to have Him in their lives, for those that practice the principles that Alma's been preaching here, to the day where I can meet my Savior. I hope, as he says, "Would to God that it might be in my day." I hope I get to see that happen here. But whenever it happens, I am so excited for the day that Christ comes again and we get to see and behold His majesty and we get to see and feel the power of His Spirit in our presence.

What a beautiful day to look forward to. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
