  • The episode prompts listeners to reflect on their individual contribution to choosing the right and leaning into the Lord.
  • To prevent a collective growth of iniquity, individuals are encouraged to associate with and encourage voices that choose righteousness in their families and communities.

All of these are going to be voices choosing the right, thus preventing a collective growth of the voice that chooses iniquity.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. To king or not to king?

That is the question that Mosiah actually answers for his people and maybe even for us as well. Welcome to Day 145 and welcome to this episode of Savory Salt. We're going to be reading the middle of Mosiah chapter 29 verses 10 through 28.

We are just one day away from completing the book of Mosiah which has been a great adventure. Today we dive into King Mosiah's opinion of what should happen when he passes away. And the answer is kind of interesting because he pushes for the people to avoid having another king.

And he uses some great examples inside of there. I hope you enjoy these verses as he kind of lays out his arguments for why he believes. If you want another refresher on a recipe for deliverance, check out verse 20.

But our verse today is actually going to come from verse 27. And it is out of Mosiah chapter 29, verse 27. It's a second part of a thought.

He mentions in verse 26 that typically the voice of the people don't usually go against the right. They typically go with the right direction. And then it's usually the lesser part of the people that speak out in favor of those things that are not right.

And then we get verse 27. So he, continuing this thought, this is what he says here: And if the time comes that the voice of the people doth choose iniquity, then is the time that the judgments of God will come upon you. Yea, then is the time he will visit you with great destruction, even as he has hitherto visited this land.

And here comes an official warning from King Mosiah that if and when the voice of the people turn so large that they collectively choose iniquity, it is a time ripe for judgments of God to come upon them. Now I'm not here to say, oh my goodness, we're at that day, or I'm not here to say it has come. What I am here to say is in our attempts to be savory salt throughout listening to this.

Thank you for joining us for this podcast and reading scriptures every day and building, hopefully, a better testimony of Jesus Christ. I hope what we can do is see the warnings here from King Mosiah and say, what role can I play in not becoming part of the voice of the people that doth choose iniquity? What steps can I take to continue to encourage my family, my friends, and even encourage myself to choose the right and to lean into the Lord?

I think there are things that we all could sit down and make a list of that could help us make sure that we stay on the side of the voice of the Lord, the side of choosing the right. That's the encouragement that I have for you today inside the episode is to be aware of the voices around you and try to associate yourself with those voices. All of these are going to be voices choosing the right, thus preventing a collective growth of the voice that chooses iniquity.

That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass. Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
