This episode unpacks the Lord's limitless promise to forgive our trespasses as often as we sincerely repent, inspiring listeners to gain spiritual momentum through Christ's atonement.

Key Points

  • Mosiah 26:30 highlights the Lord's direct promise to Alma that He will forgive us our trespasses as often as we seek to repent.
  • Forgiveness is not limited by number or specific days, but is freely offered to those who sincerely repent and turn to the Lord.
  • President Russell M. Nelson's counsel to find joy in daily repentance is a key way to build spiritual momentum in our lives.
  • Embracing consistent daily repentance allows individuals to receive forgiveness and become more savory, aligning with Jesus' teachings on being the salt of the earth.

Today, I can say that I can get a little more savory by focusing on daily repentance. And I have it right here from the Lord's mouth that as often as I repent, I can receive forgiveness from Him and get the joy that comes on the backside of that repentance.

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 140 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon.

I feel like 140 should be some sort of like a momentous occasion for something. I think it's just a great number. We're moving along.

Well done with your readings today. You're going to be reading Mosiah. Have I said that?

I'm pretty sure I have. But let's get into today's verse. It's very short, but the thoughts around it are deep and worth digging into.

Let's read from Mosiah chapter 26, verse 30. Now, something cool about verse 30, and actually all of these verses here, a good chunk of today's reading, actually, is the Lord Himself speaking to Alma. So that's kind of cool.

We don't have a lot of segments. What an encouraging verse to hear from the Lord Himself. I know I make mistakes.

I know my friends and my family make mistakes as well. I know people I don't know make mistakes. And yet here, the Lord tells us, as often as we seek to repent, He will forgive us our trespasses.

Now, that doesn't say "as often," you know, with a limit of 10 mistakes, or "as often on Wednesdays, but not on Thursdays," right? There doesn't seem to be any parameters around here, but there is an encouragement, and there is a requirement there, I should say, that we do repent in order to receive forgiveness. It made me think about President Nelson's call to action recently in his talk on "Gaining and Building Spiritual Momentum." I'll put a link for that in the podcast today, and you can spend some time reading into there.

But, one of his pieces there, he gave us five ways to build spiritual momentum, and one of them was to find the joy inside of daily repentance. I love that. He encourages us to repent on a daily basis.

And this is what he says inside of daily repentance. And I love how he's talking here about the misery of not repenting versus the joy that comes when we put off the natural man and we seek the Lord's forgiveness. I love that.

That is encouraging to me. Today, I can say that I can get a little more savory by focusing on daily repentance. And I have it right here from the Lord's mouth that as often as I repent, I can receive forgiveness from Him and get the joy that comes on the backside of that repentance.

I love that. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
