Show Notes

In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success, including the success of reading the Book of Mormon. You know how at the end of every Savory Salt episode, I talk about the small and simple things, allowing great things to be brought to pass.
You know that part? I just want to acknowledge that today, we are here today as we enter into day 123 on our journey through the Book of Mormon. Just if you've listened to Savory Salt, now I know I've got a few of you that have been able to do the marathon with me.
If you listened to every episode of Savory Salt, you and I together have spent over 12 hours inside of the Book of Mormon together this year. Now if you've done the readings day by day along with Savory Salt, you have easily surpassed an entire day of study this year so far inside of the Book of Mormon. I want to acknowledge that for just a second.
You've taken tiny steps each day, just a little bit, and yet now that we're on day 123, you've spent at least an entire day of your life inside of the Book of Mormon. Well done. That is some cool studying.
I hope that your testimony of Christ is shoring up. I hope that you're seeing things through a different lens as you study. I know that I am, and I share it with you.
At least I try to do my best to share it with you. Let's dive into today's reading now. Today we're going to be reading Mosiah chapter 13, verses 7 through 30.
And inside of this, we get a big old chunk of Abinadi teaching the Ten Commandments or reviewing the Ten Commandments, the Law of Moses with the people of Noah. Inside of this, you know, this is the time they're living the Law of Moses at this time. And Abinadi gets done teaching them the Ten Commandments.
And then he comes to this verse and this is our verse for the day. I want to share it. Mosiah chapter 13, verse 25.
He says, 'And it came to pass that after Abinadi had made an end of these sayings, that he said unto them: Have ye taught this people that they should observe to do all these things, for to keep these commandments?' Now he's talking to the priests of Noah here. And yet, it's an interesting question for all of us. Do we teach the things we believe?
Maybe we could invert that. Do we believe the things that we're teaching? The things that we learn inside the gospel, especially the commandments and the covenants that we make with the Lord, are those things that we make sure to teach our families?
Are those things we teach inside of our gospel lessons? I think it's interesting that as we become He says that inside of these verses. They have an opportunity to fill the spirit as you convey those messages to them.
And you too can have an increase in the spirit of your life as you share those things that you've learned and you believe. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.
Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow. I hope you are too.
