In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life, and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. And we together are on day 118 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon.
Welcome to Mosiah chapters 9 and 10. We're going to be reading today Mosiah chapter 9, verses 15 through 19. We're going to finish up that chapter and dive into Mosiah chapter 10, verses 1 through 19.
And today we actually see Zeniff and his people come full circle around to the Lord, and that what I want to dive into in our verse today. We're going to read today, Mosiah chapter 9, verse 17. And it says this: "Yea, in the strength of the Lord did we go forth to battle against the Lamanites.
For I and my people did cry mightily to the Lord that he would deliver us." All right, we're going to start reflections on this verse in a second, and then I'll blog this through. A lot of different great examples of people that have had spiritual experiences through prayer and their prayers have been answered. And each one of those is like these little breadcrumbs that allow me to see that prayers are answered in other people's lives.
And those breadcrumbs help me remember to turn to the Lord and seek to have my prayers answered. So, the people here, Zeniff, and they're dealing with a challenging time with the Lamanites. The Lamanites are literally coming to battle, and yet it's an opportunity for Zeniff and his people to turn and to cry mightily to the Lord that he would deliver them.
And then later on, as you keep reading, we find out the Lord did hear their cries, and he did deliver them. This is such a great opportunity for us to remember the times in our lives where deliverance has come from the Lord. And maybe those aren't just personal.
And I love to see part two. I love to see full circle come here where Zeniff started out overzealous, didn't remember the Lord, didn't have the Lord as a priority in his life. And yet, very shortly, just a few verses later (whether it days or months in the real story, but just a few verses later), we see Zeniff and his people fully embrace the Lord and remember his ability to deliver them.
And they seek his hand, and they seek his hand, and they seek his hand. And they received deliverance. Great thing to keep in mind as we're dealing with our daily struggles of bondage, challenges, and afflictions.
That's all for today, my friends. Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
