In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.
Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I am cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 109 and welcome to Mosiah chapter 3, a beautiful chapter about Jesus Christ and his role in your life.
I hope that you can take some time to dig into the verses that we're going to look at today, as well as all of chapter 3, when it comes to the role that Jesus Christ plays. I love King Benjamin's testimony here. Today, inside of our 365-day journey, we're going to read Mosiah chapter 3, verses 8 through 19.
This is the first verse that we selected inside of chapter 3, and there are a lot of them that are very tough to choose from. This one, this one was brutal. And so I hope my choosing today is not seemingly excluding any of the other verses, because this chapter is very, very dear to my heart as it talks so very clearly about the role that Christ plays and his Atonement in our lives and what it means for us.
It is a beautiful chapter. Our verse today that I have selected for Savory Salt comes from verse 13. It says, "And the Lord God hath sent his holy prophets among all the children of men, to declare these things to every kindred, nation, and tongue, that thereby whosoever should believe that Christ should come, the same might receive remission of their sins, and rejoice with exceedingly great joy, even as though he had already come among them." Now the cool thing about that tail end piece, "even as though he'd already come among them," King Benjamin's saying it from the perspective of living before Christ came, and you could absolutely use that same phrase in our world as we're waiting for Christ's Second Coming.
And yet we can receive the power of the Atonement in our lives as though he had already come among us. Now this verse is beautiful for a lot of different reasons, but one of them that stands out to me is the role that holy prophets have in testifying and declaring these things to every kindred, nation, and tongue. And it got me thinking about the recent, at least as of this recording, the recent General Conference that we had.
We had a new apostle speak, Elder Patrick Kearon. He had a great talk, and inside of that talk his talk was called "God's Intent Is to Bring You Home." And he had a beautiful illustration there. I will make sure that I put the link inside of this podcast episode so that you can go and see what kind of connections he has to chapter 3 here, Mosiah chapter 3.
But I just wanted to share one of his thoughts inside of here and put it together with this declaration that King Benjamin's talking about with the holy prophets. Elder Kearon said, "Everything about the Father's plan for his beloved children is designed to bring everyone home. What do God's messengers, his prophets, call this plan in restoration scripture?
They call it the Plan of Redemption, the Plan of Mercy, the Great Plan of Happiness, and the Plan of Salvation, which is unto all through the blood of mine Only Begotten Son." I love that the gospel of Jesus Christ is an invitation for all to come unto Christ. I love how clear the prophets speak and invite all to choose to follow Christ and to embrace the commandments in their lives. I loved Elder Kearon's talk as he talked about the desire that.
And I hope you enjoy his talk and I hope you have time to dive into it. I love this lesson here because it helps me remember the power of bearing testimony. This reference, specifically the holy prophets, but I think about the missionaries serving literally all over the world and the testimonies that they have as well.
I think about regular members sharing testimony and their opportunity to declare this to every. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is covering the earth, and I love that I'm part of it and I get to see it in my life. And I am so appreciative of the holy prophets and the role that they play in testifying of Jesus Christ anciently, as King Benjamin has, and presently as Elder Patrick Kearon and all the other brethren and prophets that spoke during General Conference.
That's all for today, my friends. Remember that "by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow, and I hope you are too.
