In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be savory salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be savory salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from, thank you for joining me and know that I'm cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 103 on our 365-day journey through the Book of Mormon together. Today's an interesting one because it seems to be kind of just placed in the middle of all these stories.

It's a connection for Mormon to say, hey, here's the small plates. Here's my abridgment of the Bible. Today's reading is Words of Mormon, chapter 1, verse 8.

And it says, And my prayer to God is concerning my brethren, that they may once again come to the knowledge of God, yea, the redemption of Christ, that they may once again be a delightsome people. This one's kind of a sad and yet uplifting one for me, if I'm being honest. It hit me this time as I read this that Mormon is about a thousand years after Nephi and the Nephites and Laman and the Lamanites and all the others do their split.

Here he is writing to let us know that he's connecting these two records and that's great. But he also has great clarity on why he's putting these records together. And he's putting these records together because he's holding on to the faith that his brethren, the Lamanites, will once again come to the knowledge of God and the redemption of Christ, and that they may once again be a delightsome people.

I think it's interesting when we assume their intent is to hurt us rather than any other. . . And yet, nothing but the love of Jesus Christ could help him keep the desire for his Nephite and Lamanite brethren to come back into the knowledge of God and the redemption of Christ. That is true love there.

And I want more of that in my life. I want to be able to see those that hurt me, to see those that have ill intent against me as my brethren, and wish for them a day where they can have a knowledge of God and the redemption of Christ, and that they too can come to a day to be delightsome people. I want to be delightsome people as Mormon would put it.

I love this one and I hope that I can learn to hold the love of Christ in me as I go forward with a little bit more savory salt in my life. That's all for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be savory salt. I'll be here tomorrow and I hope you are too.
