In Matthew 5:13, Jesus tells his followers that they are the salt of the earth, and in the same sentence offers a warning that savorless salt is good for nothing. Join me in an attempt to be Savory Salt as I share each day one verse of scripture and one small thought. Perhaps this small daily emphasis can lead to greater savor in your life and ultimately you and I can be Savory Salt.

Hello, my friends and family, wherever you're listening from. Thank you for joining me and know that I am cheering for your every success. Welcome to day 46.

I hope you can hear the smile on my face as we dive into 2 Nephi chapter 4 today. You're going to read the rest of the chapter today. And oh my goodness, I hope that you have all of the incredible feels that I have when I read 2 Nephi chapter 4.

This chunk of scripture is so meaningful to me personally, and I love to take an opportunity today and share it with you. On our 365 day journey together of reading the scriptures specifically from the Book of Mormon every day today you're going to read 2 Nephi 4 verses 13. You're going to finish the chapter and man is it going to turn on right about verse 15 and just go go go.

I could spend probably honestly I could probably spend the year sitting inside of these verses. But as is the nature of Savory Salt, we only going to take one verse. And this was really hard because I believe Nephi's journey here is so clearly spelled out of a journey of the circle of faith.

He comes to understand the power of the Spirit in his life. He comes to understand feelings of unworthiness and feelings of guilt. And then he comes to understand the feelings that come with the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

And then he comes to understand his salvation through Jesus Christ. I mean, this is an amazing chunk of Scripture here. And we're going to hit what I think one of my favorite verses is of anywhere.

And I've got a little story to tell on the backside of it, but let's get straight to it. It's verse 34. And 34, Nephi says with power, I wish I could say it as Nephi would say it, but I'll just say it as best as I can here. "O Lord, I have trusted in Thee, and I will trust in Thee forever.

I will not put my trust in the arm of flesh; for I know that cursed is he that putteth his trust in the arm of flesh. Yea, cursed is he that putteth his trust in man or maketh flesh his arm." Now I got to tell you something about 2 Nephi 4 verse 34. I might be the only Cottonwood Colt from the graduating class of 1998 who still has on his keychain a tiny little metal piece that says 2 Nephi 4 verse 34 on it.

And it says, Oh Lord, I've trusted in Thee and I will trust in Thee forever. It might not say all of that now that I think about it, but I've had that on my keychain since high school. And that's been a few years now.

Like I said, the graduating class of 1998. But I got to tell you, I got that and put it on my keychain at a very difficult time in my life. High school had its ups and downs, as I think everyone experiences in high school.

I'm going to put this on my keychain and I'm just going to keep it there and I hope that I can just learn to trust in the Lord. I think I've had the same ebbs and flows through my life that I have in high school. I've had the ups and the downs.

Every time I come back around to this verse and honestly this chapter, I lean on Nephi's testimony and I continue to gain from it. I am refreshed. I am strengthened.

I come out stronger singing the way that Nephi sings here, "Oh Lord, I have trusted in Thee and I will trust in Thee forever." I hope that you learn to trust in the Lord. You may not understand everything that's going on in your life. You may not understand the challenges that you're facing, but the Lord does.

He knows you. That's all I have for today, my friends. Remember that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass.

Keep it small, keep it simple, and always seek to be Savory Salt. I'll be here tomorrow. I hope you are too.
